Sesimbra lies on the Costa Azul (blue coast), 30 km south of Lisbon, surrounded by a nature preservation area, steep coasts, and pine and eucalyptus forests (i.e. Sierra Arabida and Aldeia do Meco). The white beaches in Sesimbra are children friendly (leveled slopes) and the water is habitually glassy. If you would like to experience the Atlantic differently, take a drive to the long beaches (about 25 km) of the Aldeia do Meco which invites you to experience the nudist area and the baths of the waves. Here, in the steep coasts, you can find black clay offering a special feature to the area: application to the skin encourages the blood flow and is suggested to work against various skin problems and rheumatism. Also to take note is the vacinity of Sesimbra, which is said to have the best micro-climate of Europe. Not far from Sesimbra, in the nature preservation area at the foot of the Sierra Arabida, you can find more bays and beaches. For water sports or fishing, Sesimbra has an extensive offer (diving, diving school, water skiing, jet skiing, banana boats, wave surfing, wind surfing, kite surfing, etc.). Horse lovers can rent a horse and discover the nature preserve’s landscape in an entirely different way.
Sesimbra and the surroundings offer a number of restaurants and Tascas (fish lovers come here especially on their expense!) in every price range.
And for the golfer, you can find your own terrain very close by in the newly developed (18 hole) Quinta do Peru golf course, the Aroreia I and Aroreia II on the Costa da Caparica, Troia Golf on the half-island of Troia or the Club de Montedo near to Gondola.

In Sesimbra, you won’t find mass tourism. This is a vacation area of the Portuguese, mainly in the time from July to September. Lisbon is quickly within reach (to the airport and the center town you need only 30-40 minutes, not during rush hour), as is the largest shopping center of Europe, the Colombo, or the new, highly modern shopping center Forum in Almada just 20 minutes away. After Lisbon, you can take a ship to the resting cities of Barreio, Cacilhas or Seixal on the other side of the Tejo: a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The landing place in Lisbon is directly on the Praca do Commericio, from where you can take a stroll through the Rua Augusta, one of the main shopping streets. For those who don’t want to travel too far, Sesimbra also offers its fisherman’s docks and the daily fish auction, its old laid-brick citadel or the area with its own small fisherman’s cottage. Here you can find many varieties of narrow paths and fall completely silent at the unforgettable, dream-like sunset on the Cabo Espichel.
